Here are some potentional social problems you might care about...
- Bullying amongst LGBT youth and their friends?
- The food crisis or homelessness amongst children in central Illinois?
- Drug abuse amongst teenagers? (Think Chris Herrin)
- The distribution of wealth? (This 1%)
- High incidence of certain conditions amongst a demographically identifiable group of people (HIV/AIDS, Teen Pregnancy, poor schools, etc.)?
Now that you have a social problem in your head...
Post a comment stating:
- What is the cause?
- Why does it matter?
- Why do you care about it?
Now that you've shared your thoughts...
Read other people's post and respectfully comment on their ideas by:
- adding thoughts, making connections, etc.
- List at least 3 causes or people who is working on something you feel passionately about or would be ok working on.
The cause is recieving food stamps .

DeleteThe cause is drug abuse amongst teenagers. It matter's to me because how much teenage kids these days do drugs. It impacts them because it would be hard to get through school, hard to get a job, and it would just mess up their future.

DeleteThe unemployment rates in America. It's a problem because there are many families that go homeless and hugry due to this. It matters to me because I hate to see people like this and its effected quite a few of my familty members too.

DeleteTamara, I'm glad you said unemployment rates instead of just people that don't have jobs because there is a big difference. Some people don't work because they are choosing not too, I see you are talking about the people who want to work but lost their job or can't get one.
DeleteThe cause is teen pregnancy. It matters cause teens shouldn't be pregnant. You have 12 year olds that's pregnant and they havent even hit puberty yet and their having babies when they are basically babies theirselves. I think it's sad because if I was in this situation I would be embarrassed.

I care because i have freinds that are being bullied because of their sexual prefference and a few of them have commited suicide.
That is true because all people should get treated the same no matter what .

I care about this because is not right and also because not that many people are aware of it.
the cause is the distribution of wealth becuase just 1% have almost 50% of the money in America. the poor barely have money to survive in the world but 3 or 4 people have more than needed.

ReplyDeleteBullying can change a person and thier identity. Beacause of low self-asteem and lack of confindence. People who are bullied Dont want to go out in the public or school, If they do they feel that everbody is juding and them and when they go to school they will just get bullied again. It even leads to suicide. I care about it beacause everbody gets bullied and words do hurt.
Bullying ; The cause of bullying to me is unexplainable. The cause is if someone doesn't like you, you'll always be talked about. Bullying matters because the more kids bully eachother the more hurt. That can also lead to suicide. It's important to me or the reason why I care is because I have delt with someone close being bullied and or seen someone getting bullied in some way. Which should really go into an end.

Every human has the right to live, It matters because if shooters shoot students, those students are our future and our next generatings. We care about every single person and mostly teens and children.
